GOD’S WORD -THE BIBLE (6)
In our last series on “Basic Military Training for Believers” we saw the Word of God described as a SWORD. It is sharp and two edged in its operation separating the things of the flesh and the spirit, and against our common enemy the devil.
The writer of the Book of Hebrews declares in 4:12 NKJV For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
AMP.N.T. For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of thebreath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.
PASSION For we have the living Word of God, which is full of energy, and it pierces more sharply than a two-edged sword. It will even penetrate to the very core of our being where soul and spirit, bone and marrow meet! It interprets and reveals the true thoughts and secret motives of our hearts.
MESSAGE God means what he says. What he says goes. His powerful Word is sharp as a surgeon’s scalpel, cutting through everything, whether doubt or defense, laying us open to listen and obey.
Paul in his teaching on The whole Armour of God tells us in Eph.6:17 NKJV The Sword of the Spirit, which is the (Rhema) Word of God.
AMP. N.T. the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the Word of God.
PASSION And take the mighty razor-sharp Spirit-sword of the SPOKEN Word of God.
MESSAGE God’s Word is an indispensable weapon.
As a personal inheritance from the Lord, every Believer has been given a complete set of armour, but it sits in the wardrobe until we are discipled and that we know it is exists. We must recognise what piece we need to deal with our enemy, take it out, and learn to use it.
My readers know this Sword is the Rhema Word of God, where the Holy Spirit quickens the Word of God to us, and it becomes a living personal word, that we use to fight the enemy, the devil hates the Word of God, and does not like to be reminded when we confesses it to him, that “because the Spirit who lives in (me) you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world” 1 John 4:4 NLT, or “We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us”. or “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. Phil. 4:13.
As James reminds us the devil has no choice but to run away and is defeated.
