WE CAN HAVE PERFECT MENTAL HEALTH.

By John Ollis

Much as we want to be kept up to date with what is happening in our world especially in relation to the pandemic, the media so often over dramatises the problems and this can easily create fear in our hearts, thus the concern that is increasing regarding this and the impact it is having on many people’s mental health.

Paul writing to his son in the faith says in 2 Tim. 1:7 AMP.N.T. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.

NKJV For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

PASSION For God will never give you the spirit of fear, but the Holy Spirit who gives you mighty power, love, and self-control.

The statement “spirit of fear” indicates that the devil is the source of fear, it is one of those “little foxes that spoil the vines” like doubt, and unbelief and negativity. This is why we must move offensibly against our enemy, and see him “flee”.

We must seek to be ever one step ahead of the enemy, and not let him seek to lodge fear in our hearts,

Let us be proactive, by continually RE-AFFIRMING Christ’s Lordship in our lives, so that the agape love of God continues to flow unhindered out of our lives, (Rom.5:5) that the power of the Holy Spirit has full sway in our lives continually. (Eph.5:18), and that our mind is filled with the Word of God, (Phil.4:8).

This is what Paul tells Timothy in 1 Tim.1:7 we must seek to have power, love and a sound mind controlling us, and thus the peace of God will constantly fill our hearts..

May this simple devotion bless and encourage you, once again, I have said nothing new here, but may the Holy Spirit remind you of these essential truths, amen
