LETTING THE WORD WORK

By John Ollis

This blog is a little different to the usual ok? I have talked much about the pandemic, and God using it to challenge His Church and all His children to draw nearer to Him.

Today I want to simply highlight what is available to us, EVERY DAY. Most of us would have heard the saying

7 days makes one week, and 7 days without the Lord makes one WEAK.

We have the glorious promise in James 4:8 NKJV Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. As we simply take that first step, (even haltingly) God draws near, and we can cry out to Him, and have real communion and communicaton with Him.

We also have the Word of God, which so uniquely has the ability to minister to us. many believers are very undisciplined when it comes to spending time reading and meditating on the Word of God (I am sure one reason is the lack of Biblical Discipleship) and so consequently, have never developed a hunger, nor understand the power of the Word of God to minister to us, all the time, BUT ESPECIALLY DURING APANDEMIC.

During these past six months the Lord had put so many words into my heart and mind, as I have read, and meditated (chewed over) His Word, and looked at it in various translations, and prayed LORD TURN THE LIGHT ON? I don’t think at any time in my whole Christian experience have I received such, comfort, encouragement, blessing, and challenge.

So, I want to encourage you today, to especially make a decision, to spend more quality (unhurried) time not only only reading, but MEDITATING on the Word of God, I GUARANTEE IT WILL BE LIFE CHANGING.

I am going to list a number of verses that have blest me, and helped me through this difficult time. You may not want to follow these verses, but plan and choose verses, chapters and books that you feel may help you.

Psalm 91:15-16 NKJV

He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.”

Jeremiah 15:6 NKJV

Stand in the ways and see,
And ask for the old paths, where the good way is,
And walk in it;
Then you will find rest for your souls.

Isaiah 41:10 NKJV

ve chosen you and have not cast you away:
Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

Psalm 36:7-9 NKJV

How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God!
Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.
They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house,
And You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures.
For with You is the fountain of life;
In Your light we see light.

Psalm 71:5-6 NKJV

For You are my hope, O Lord God;
You are my trust from my youth.
By You I have been upheld from birth;
You are He who took me out of my mother’s womb.
My praise shall be continually of You.

Proverbs `16:10 NKJV

The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
The righteous run to it and are safe.

Let me conclude today by saying LET THE WORD WORK. the Bible Is NOT a “lucky dip” but as you read and meditate on the Word, and let the Holy Spirit QUICKEN it to you, remarkable things will happen within your mind and spirit.

So let it become a POSITIVE HABIT for the rest of our lives (not just until the pandemic is over, Let’s JUST DO IT OK?
