EVER PREPARED FOR THE UNPLANNED INTERRUPTIONS

By John Ollis

Every few months we get a letter informing us that on a certain date there will be a power interruption on a certain day for about 7 hours so maintenance can be carried out on the system, the next one is scheduled for next Thursday.

To our surprise at around 9am last Thursday our power went off, and remained off for nearly 7 hours, not being given any advance notice we could not cook or boil water or do anything that required electricity, it was a very frustrating time. I eventually went to the power company’s web site and found out that we were experiencing AN UNPLANNED OUTAGE.

The reality in life is that we can often have ” unplanned interruptions” and unless we have learnt to obey the Word of God, there can be frustration, that can lead us to sin and disobey the Lord.

I am reminded of Paul’s words in Rom. 5:18 NKJV

be (CONTINUALLY) filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God.
AMP. N.T. ever be filled and stimulated with the [Holy] Spirit.

My friend who is a Greek Bible Student told me that when a word (in the Greek) is written as in Eph.5:18 IT IS ALWAYS IN THE CONTINUOUS SENSE.

Again, this is a major reason why Biblical Discipleship is so important, so that the new believer learns quickly to “continually” surrender himself to the Lord, speaking personally because of my sinful nature, there is always the temptation to roll off the altar and do my own thing (Rom.12:1). So, I seek to regularly affirm in prayer the Lordship of Jesus Christ over my life (body, soul & spirit) and declare, I want my body continually to be A TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT ever filled to overflowing with the Holy Spirit.

I have mentioned before and let us take note again that Paul writing to the Ephesians, tells us we need to singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. N.L.T. AMP.N.T. VERSE 21 Be subject to one another out of reverence for Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

May the Lord help us to MAKE LIVING THE SPIRIT-FILLED LIFE A LIFESTYLE, so that when the unexpected interruptions come, we seek to lean back on the Sovereignty of God and let His peace continue to rule and reign in our lives amen.

Have an awesome Sunday in the House of the Lord, with His people.
