PREPARING FOR PENTECOST SUNDAY (5)

By John Ollis

We know life is full of distractions real and potential, plus we know the “enemy” will constantly seek to distract us in our pursuit of a closer walk with God. So continually we must be on the alert to discern what is simply a distraction and reject it, or recognise what it is the Lord that wants to bring to our attention.

I want to suggest in this final blog in this series, that we ask the Lord to increase our DESIRE AND EXPECTATION as we approach Pentecost Sunday, and that an excitement is going to build up in us for a real and awesome connection with the Holy Spirit that will be life changing and unforgettable.

I wonder if there may be some fear and trepidation in some of my readers hearts as they have been giving this recent period much prayerful consideration, we are all aware of Jer. 17:9 NKJV “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked, Who can know it?

We sure know our hearts, and the struggles and failures of the past, and we must recognise that a major ministry of the Holy Spirit is that of SANCTIFER, Mal.3:3 describes God as REFINER AND PURIFER OF SILVER He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver; He will purify the sons of Levi, and refine them like gold and silver, and they will bring offerings of righteousness.

We all understand the refining process relating to precious metals, and here Malachi is saying that there are times when the Holy Spirit may “turn the heat up:, we must never forget “He does all things well: and it is all for our eternal good Rom.:8:28. and He wants to continue to complete the work of grace in us which began on the day we were born again.

So let us re-affirm Christ’s Lordship in our lives, and reject any fears we may have, and ask the Lord to increase our desire and expectation that the Holy Spirit is going to do a special work in our lives, that will take us to a deeper level of relationship with the Lord, and more effective service and fruitfulness for the Kingdom of God amen.

Can I ask my readers to respond to this series, after your Pentecost Sunday service/s and tell what the Lord has done by the Holy Spirit in your life.
