ARE YOU AN ENCOURAGER?

From the very early days of my Pastoral Ministry I have had a burden for what I now call Biblical Discipleship, not that I could have articulated what I “felt” in those early days. In the 1970’s a Ministry team from the U.S. came to visit the church I was pastoring in Sydney and lady on the team prophesied that I would particularly be ministering to young me, this at that time did not mean a lot to me. Although in that church and our next one, there came an influx oft young men, that I sought to “Disciple.

There were three men appointed to the Bible College Faculty when i was appointed in January 1987, and I was chosen by the College Leadership to have as part of my responsibilities as well as lecturing to fulfil the role of Dean of men.

Around this time the Holy Spirit “quickened” to my spirit Hebrews 3:13. It became a Rhema word to me.

KJV But exhort ENCOURAGE) one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

PASSION This is the time to encourage each other to never be stubborn or hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.

I made a decision that whenever I came near a student on campus, I would pray and ask the Lord to give me a “word of encouragement” for them, and there were many times when I would see tears come into the eyes of a young man when I shared a simple word with them, to this day I have sought to make it my practice.

I want to encourage you, to make this a “life practice too, we will never know what a simple word of encouragement can mean and do in the life of a fellow Believer.

There sure has been many times in my life when I wished someone would have share a simple “nugget” of encouragement to me, I am sure you would agree regarding yourself as well.
