THE ESSENTIAL PLACE OF THE WORD OF GOD IN THE LIFE OF THE BELIEVER
Let me ask you a personal question, Do you spend much time in the Word of God? Were you ever personally Biblically Discipled and see the importance of the Bible in your life. My readers know I am committed to fulfilling Matt. 28:18-20 NKJV And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make DISCIPLES of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Sadly, so many Believers who have never been discipled almost see reading a passage of Scripture daily as a duty, not realizing the uniqueness of the Bible and the essential place it must hold in our walk with the Lord and our personal continued growth.
Firstly, let me encourage you to ask the Lord to increase your hunger for the Word of God, and to learn to LET THE WORD OF GOD CONTINUALLY WORK IN YOUR LIFE.
I love gardening, common sense tells one you have to prepare the soil before you plant if you want a good crop. So I highly recommend that you do not open your Bible until you have prayed first.
I am going to highlight a number of Scriptures in this blog, I am sure there will be areas of importance I may miss, but may this blog assist you to really let the Word work in you.
1 Peter 1:23 KJV Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
AMP.N.T. You have been regenerated (born again), not from a morta lorigin (seed, sperm), but from one that is immortal by the ever living and lasting Word of God.
The Word of God is involved from the time we are convicted of sin, and we realise Jesus is the answer. Here Peter describes the Word as a “SEED” or SPERMA, that the Holy Spirt plants into our life and it produces a spiritual conception and we are born again, please note that word, (seed/sperma) abides for ever and wants to ever keep working in us.
2 Timothy 3:16 NKJV ALL Scripture is given by INSPIRATION (GOD BREATHED) of God, and is profitable for DOCTRINE,for REPROOF for CORRECTION for INSTRUCTION IF RIGHTEOUSNESS, that the man of God may be COMPLETE, THOROUGHLY EQUIPPED FOR EVERY GOOD WORK.
AMP.N.T. Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action),
In simple terms we can never be the person God wants us to be or do the things He wants us to do unless we spend MUCH time in the Word of God.
Romans 10:17 NKJV So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
PASSION TRANSLATION Faith, then, is birthed in a heart that responds to God’s anointed utterance of the Anointed One
So what is the source of FAITH? By hearing the Word,
There are 2 words for “word” in the Greek text Logos which is the written Word of God and RHEMA which is when the Word comes alive A LIGHT BULB MOMENT, we may call it a revelation, King David often prayed, we read in Psalm 119:25 KJV QUICKEN thou me according to thy WORD. In the past when a woman felt her baby moving in the womb for the first time, it was called the quickening, the Word becomes alive and personal to us and PRODUCES FAITH IN US.
JOSHUA 1:8 NKJV This Book of the Law shall not depart from your MOUTH, but you shall MEDITATE in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way PROSPEROUS, and then you will have good SUCCESS.
Memorising Scripture is important but MEDITATING I think is even more important. The Hebrew suggests murmuring or muttering (saying out aloud what the Scripture says, and look at other translations and ask the Holy Spirit to ILLUMINATE (turn the light on) the Scripture and FAITH will arise in your heart.
May this blog bless you and encourage you to become a Word person as David was and declares in Psalm 119:11 NKJV Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.
Your comments are always appreciated. God bless you.
