THE WORD OF GOD AND OUR CONSCIENCE.
May I ask all my readers “HOW ARE YOU TODAY”? I do trust and pray despite everything that is going on around us, you can echo King David’s words in Psalm 16:11 NKJV In Your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures for evermore.
I felt to do a broadcast WhatsApp message yesterday to the 250+ friends on my list and encourage them that just as they keep their smartphone fully charged they keep their spiritual walk FULLY CHARGED, by STAYING UNDER THE SPOUT WHERE THE COMES OUT.
IF WE DO, WE CAN SURE DECLARE LIKE WHAT KING DAVID SAID IN PSALM 16:11
I was blest as I read a prophecy of Isaiah yesterday, which I am sure you know, (or will remember) I will quote part of it here. Isaiah 2: 3 NLT People from many nations will come and say,
“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of Jacob’s God, there He will TEACH us His ways, and we will WALK in His paths, for the Lord’sTEACHINGS will go out of Zion.
Then in verse 5 a broadening of the prophecy we read NLT Come, descendants of Jacob,
let us WALK IN THE LIGHT OF THE LORD.
MESSAGE Come, family of Jacob, let’s LIVE IN THE LIGHT OF GOD
Verse five suggests this means walking and living in the teachings of the Word of God.
The Apostle John very clearly refers to this in 1 John 1:7 NLT But if we are LIVING IN THE LIGHT, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO LIVE IN THE LIGHT.
I would suggest to you it means to
- Live in the light of GOD’S WORD
We must know the Word well enough to know what God requires of us, I think it really helps as we meditate on God’s Word, and let the information become revelation, we will wonderfully experience the Lord “leading us into all truth” and the Holy Spirit giving us the grace and strength to obey the Lord’s teachings.
- Live in the light of our CONSCIENCE
Scholars suggest the only thing operating in the human spirit (if we are not born again) is our CONSCIENCE.I wonder how much teaching you have had on the human conscience?It has been described as that something within that indicates to us what is RIGHT OR WRONG or what is GOOD OR EVIL.
It has also been described as red flashing light that will start flashing when we are confronting with a situation that requires us to make a choice between right or wrong.
We come to that place like millions of drivers around the world who drive through red lights (and often cause a crash or worse) Paul writing to his son Timothy says in 1 Timothy 4:2 KJV (describes our conscience like this, having their conscience seared with a hot iron; the NLT says DEAD. The MESSAGE says that they’ve lost their capacity for truth. A hot iron placed on human flesh will kills the nerves so there is no response. So the older a person gets he rejects the red light so often that there is no concern about what is good or evil or right or wrong.
Paul declares in Acts 24:11 NKJV This being so, I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense toward God and men. So through Biblical Discipleship, and reading and meditating on the Word of God and letting the Blood of Christ cleanse our lives. We read in Hebrews 9:14 NLT Just think how much more the BLOOD OF CHRIST WILL PURIFY OUR CONSCIENCES from sinful desires..
We can have a conscience so renewed that when ever the RED LIGHT FLASHES WE WALK AWAY.
