THE LORD jESUS AND HIS NAME
As believers we cringe inside when we hear a non-believer take the Lord’s name in vain, why is that ?
I guess there are many reasons why we react as we do, this blog is some personal comments and testimony to the Lord Jesus and His name.
Before we came to faith, Jesus was just an historical figure who lived 2000 years ago, but when we were confronted with the Gospel, the Holy Spirit so convicted us of our sin, and that our eternal destination is hell unless something is done about. Then the Holy Spirit lovingly drew us to the Father and gave us the ability to say yes and EVERYTHNIG CHANGED, Old things passed away and everything became new, we were born again and received the gift of eternal life.
Jesus was no longer an historical figure, but had become our personal Saviour, and as we understood more, we made Him the Lord (the Boss, the Master, the Ruler, the King, and the Owner of our lives. We began to develop an intimacy with Jesus, thus we hated it when people used His name as a curse.
We came to see that God the father through Jesus has delegated to us an authority to do things in the name of Jesus.
In our praying we come to the Father and have awesome access to Him In the Name of Jesus.
When the enemy tempts us, James tells us (4:17) as we submit to God, we can resist the devil (in the name of Jesus) and he must run away.
As part of the great Commission, not only must we witness and make disciples, but the Mark expression tells us (16:15-18) that there should be signs that follow our witnessing and discipling what are they?
We will cast out demons
We will speak with new tongues
If (by accident) we drink poison we will be safe
If (by accident)we are bitten by a snake we will be safe
We will lay hands on the sick and they shall recover
How do we do it? IN MY NAME In the name of Jesus
Then Paul tells us in Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do ALL in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Our whole life in meant to be dominated in everything we do and say by the name of Jesus Is that your experience ?

Do you agree with the Gaithers ? Do you love the name of Jesus. I am reminded a as a young person singing the chorus His name is as ointment poured forth(thought taken from Song of Solomon). what a fragrance there is in His name.There is no greater or higher name than Jesus.
WHAT ABOUT THE PERSON BEHIND THE NAME.?
When I went to Israel fro the first time I met a number of young guys called Jesus, it is a common name even to this day, but there is only one special person with that name.
The eternal Son of God
The second member of the Holy Trinity.
The one Peter had the revelation Thou are the Christ the Son of the living God, that revelation changed Pete’rs life, and that same revelation should change us as well. So that not only do we love the name of Jesus, WE LOVE JESUS.
This truth is so beautifully reflected in the chorus of a hymn that is the expression of my heart.
Jesus is the sweetest name I know
And He’s just same as His lovely name,
And that’s the reason WHY I LOVE HIM SO;
Oh, Jesus is the sweetest name I know.
We love His name, but we should love the person behind the name SO MUCH MORE. As another old chorus goes, I keep falling in love Him over and over again.
LET THIS GREAT LOVE AFFAIR WITH JESUS JUST KEEP ON GROWING THROUGHOUT ALL ETERNITY AMEN.
