THE HOLY SPIRIT

By John Ollis

One of the beautiful words in the Greek New Testament that is used for the Holy Spirit is Parakletos which is translated either as:
COMFORTER
COUNSELLOR
INTERCESSOR
STRENGTHER
STANDBY
HELPER.
It is this last picture I would like to write about today. I love to read the statements of great men of God who get quoted in Facebook.  Rick Joyner has written:
The Holy Spirit is not “the Doer” rather He is “the Helper”. He will not do it without us, but if we engage with Him He will help us with what we need to do to make it happen.  I basically agree with this statement in the context that it is written,  but in the broader sense  there are many things that the Holy Spirit is the doer.
He convicts us of sin
He draws us to the Lord
He comforts us
He sanctifies us
He empowers us, and the list goes on.  BUT in so many things if we don’t cooperate with Him nothing will happen.

DO YOU WANT TO COPERATE WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT?

IF YOU DO

He will guide you  John 16:13
He will teach you  John 14:26
He will call you into a ministry Acts 13:2
He fills you Acts 4:31
He strengthens you  Eph.3:16
He prophesies through us 2 Peter 1:21
He brings freedom 2 Cor. 3:17
He brings joy 1 Thess 1:6
He helps us to obey 1 Peter 1:22
He transforms us 2 Cor. 3:18
He lives in us 2 Cor. 3:16
He produces fruit in us Gal. 5:22-23
He unites us Eph. 4:3-4
He gives us access to the Father Eph. 2:18
The list goes on and on.
The key is that to the degree we cooperate with the Holy Spirit He becomes our HELPER and like Paul we can declare I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. We cannot do it on our own, so lets stop trying, but link our hearts with the Holy Spirit and the results will be beyond our wildest dreams. God bless you.
