THE POWER OF THE WORD OF GOD
I just began to read again Psalm 119, which as you know is ALL about the place and power of the Word of God in believers lives. I know as a young person, and a young believer I was never told how important it was to immerse my life in the Word of God. The little I was told came across as legalistic, something a Christian just had to do, and if you don’t you could backslide !!!!!!
In hindsight I realise now just how much I missed out because I did not realise the POWER OF THE WORD OF GOD. Is it any wonder I am fanatical about Biblical Discipleship????
There are so many aspects we need to consider when we think about Word of God:
We need to know what the Bible is all about
We must see it as our spiritual FOOD AND DRINK
It is God’s love letter to us
It is a Road map to lead us into the deeper things of God
The Word of God is a source of cleansing and sanctification
The Word of God is the source of Illumination, where the information becomes revelation.
The list could go on and on. The bottom line is this:
WE MUST FALL IN LOVE WITH THE WORD OF GOD.
We must learn to spend QUALITY TIME in the WORD EVERY DAY, not out of duty, but out of hunger and love to see what God wants to say to us. Here is a prayer to pray continually until it is answered.
LORD INCREASE MY HUNGER FOR YOUR WORD UNTIL IT CONSUMES ME.
There is no book in the world that compares with the Bible, it was the first book ever printed, and is still the best seller every year. We all know John 3:16, do we know 2 Tim.3:16????
ALL SCRIPTURE IS GIVEN BY INSPIRATION OF GOD, AND IS PROFITABLE FOR DOCTRINE, FOR REPROOF, FOR CORRECTION, FOR INSTRUCTION IN RIGHTEOUSNESS.
1.A business man , wants to make profit, as a believer we want to profit right?
2. We need to know what the Bible says about Doctrine, we develop some crazy ideas because we are ignorant of what the Bible teaches.
3. As a parent we need to correct our children, so we need to let the Word of God correct and reprove us of our errors and mistakes.
4. We will never live a holy life until the Word of God fills our heart and mind.
GOD’S THREE CLEANSING AGENTS
1.Thank God for the BLOOD OF JESUS that washes our heart clean 1 John 1:9
2. Thank God for the FIRE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT that purifies us of all the mixture (alloys) that is in our lives.
What is the third agent? Eph. 5: 26
THE HE (CHRIST) MIGHT SANCRIFY AND CLEANSE HER (THE CHURCH) WITH THEV WASHING OF WATER BY THE WORD.
3. Thank God for the sanctifying and cleansing ministry of the WORD OF GOD, our lives pre-conversion was polluted by the world and sin and our environment, and post conversion there can be many polluting factors that can impact our lives. But every time we spend quality time in the Word, a washing cleansing takes place.
As I write this blog this morning, my own heart is being challenged, it is so easy to let time and circumstances stop us from having that daily quality time in the Word of God, not only reading it, but meditating upon it, letting the LOGOS Word become the RHEMA Word, that puts faith in our heart (Rom.10:17) to be the person we were called to be in eternity past.
Lord, forgive me, for the times when I have neglected spending quality time in your Word, and even disregarded what You have commanded me to do, when I have read it.
By the grace of God, let us be known as Men and Women of the Word, AMEN.
