ENTERING THE HOLY OF HOLIES

By John Ollis

I am going into hospital for a hernia operation in the morning, so I thought, I would just share a few thoughts with you, please pray for me too that the Lord would guide the surgeon’s hands, and that there will be no complications.

I emphasise King David’s words, from Psalm 100:4 that we enter the gates (to the outer court) with THANKSGIVING, and looking at the Brazen Altar & Brazen Laver and THANK God for all that it means to us under the new Covenant, then into the Holy Place looking at the Golden Lampstand, and Table of Shewbread, and the Altar of Incense, and PRAISING God for all that these represent to us under the New Covenant.
This was as far as King David could go, but we who live on this side of the Cross, know the Veil was torn from top to bottom, when Jesus was crucified, and New Covenant Believers can enter the Holy of Holies. I have mentioned that we can create veils that stop us entering into this place, like fear and doubt and plain laziness, but as we press in we see another piece of furniture, I have not particularly made mention of this before, but again there is so much significance and truth here for New Covenant Believers.
We see the Ark of the Covenant, and the Mercy Seat and the Cherubim reaching out to each other signifying Mercy and Justice kissing, and we can’t help but bow down and WORSHIP,and love and adore and magnify the Lord. Contained inside the Ark are three important things.
THE TWO TABLETS on which were inscribed  the Ten Commandments. We thank God the Law of God is now written on our hearts, and we must know and love the Word of God, and spend much time in it, and declare with the Psalmist  we have hidden God’s Word in our heart so we would not sin against God. Some years ago, I hear a dear sister make a statement that has burned in my heart:

WE MUST LET THE WORD WORK

I wonder if we fully comprehend the uniqueness of the Scriptures, that has been inbreathed by the Holy Spirit, and God wants to quicken it to our hearts and let the Word be truly conceived in us, and do a deep continued work in our lives
THE POT OF MANNA a constant reminder of how the Lord supplied all the Children of Israel’s needs whilst they were in the wilderness. The Apostle Paul echoes this awesome truth in Philippians 4:19 NKJV And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever.  The MESSAGE says You can be sure that God will take care of everything you need, his generosity exceeding even yours in the glory that pours from Jesus. The PASSION TRANSLATION says I am convinced that my God will fully satisfy every need you have, for I have seen the abundant riches of glory revealed to me through the Anointed One, Jesus Christ!
MOSES ROD THAT BUDDED As New Covenant Believers, we have been delegated an AUTHORITY, over the evil one, so we can declare in every situation like the Apostle Paul in Philippians 4:13 NKJV I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.  The PASSION Translation says And I find that the strength of Christ’s explosive power infuses me to conquer every difficulty. The MESSAGE says Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am.
So much of what we read in the Old Testament (like the Tabernacle in the Wilderness)  is a shadow (or type) and we must pass these pictures and symbols through the Cross and we then  see its fulfilment in the Lord Jesus Christ. Once again there is repetition, but may the Lord bless you and give you increased understanding.
What a privileged people we are, to live on this side of the Cross, and to have this glorious inheritance in the Lord Jesus Christ Amen.
