HAVE YOU READ THE WILL TO SEE WHAT HAS YOUR NAME ON IT?

By John Ollis

Margaret and I had to visit our local Solicitor last week to arrange some small administrative changes to our Wills. I was personally reminded and also like to remind my readers, that the Bible is God’s Will & Testament TO US, and we need to regularly read it to be reminded of what is in the Will for us, and often as we read God’s Word, we get an even better comprehension of our inheritance in Christ, and there are times when we see something for the very first time that has our NAME on it.

I was blessed afresh this morning as I read Phil. 1:6 NKJV Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; I love what the MESSAGE Bible says :There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears.

Paul says he never doubted that the work of grace going on in the Phillipian Believers would continue on until the Lord’s return. Well, I have to be honest and say that there have been times in my life where I wondered whether I was growing at all, I sometimes felt I seemed to be going backwards like 2 steps forward, and three steps backward. This verse clearly has one special thing to say to us, and that is: THAT EVERYTHING GOD COMMENCES IN US (He will NEVER leave incomplete) BUT HE WILL FINISH IT AND THE RESULTS WILL ALWAYS BE EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD.

I want to share with you another related verse, that I trust will encourage you, than when things do not seem to be going so well we read in 2 Thessalonians 3:3 NKJV But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.

There are three key words here:

The Lord is FAITHFUL, He is always true to His Name, His Nature and His Promises because as Hebrews 13:8 NKJV says Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. I find this verse and truth such an exciting encouragement.

The Lord will ESTABLISH you, He has and is laying such a strong foundation in our lives, that even when the winds of testing and pressure come we can continue to stand strong Hallelujah.

The Lord will GUARD you, not only does He give us the Shield of Faith, and the Sword of the Spirit but a full set of armour to protect us, but the Lord Himself will be our guard, what an awesome encouraging truth this is, let it be a personal Rhema to all of us.

What does some of the other translations say for 2 Thess. 3:3. The AMP N.T. says Yet the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen [you] and set you on a firm foundation and guard you from the evil [one]. The MESSAGE Bible says But the Master never lets us down. He’ll stick by you and protect you from evil.

I trust this simple blog will bless and encourage you, and prompt you to spend more time READING & MEDITATING IN THE WILL. Amen.
