DOING THINGS THE BIBLE WAY

Back in the 1970’s I was given a small “cheap” plastic plaque on a stand, I appreciated the gift, and it sat on my desk for a number of years, I have come to appreciate even more what was written on the plaque.

PLEASE BE PATIENT GOD ISN’T FINISHED WITH ME YET.

There is another related type of statement (I cannot remember all the words) it talked about “STILL BEING UNDER CONSTRUCTION”. This is what the Christian life is all about IT IS A LONG TERM PROCESS. The Apostle Paul realised this when he wrote in Gal. 4:19 NKJV My little children, for whom I labor in birth again until Christ is formed in you. AMP N.T. says My little children, for whom I am again suffering birth pangs until Christ is COMPLETELY & PERMANENTLY (molded) within you,

Here Paul is talking about a mother seeking to give birth to a baby, and is saying he is a Mentor longing to see the new Believer come to maturity.

I have used the illustration before, but I see so much of the modern church seeing someone make a “decision” for Christ, and then throwing the baby into a swimming pool and saying swim!!!!!!

I want to challenge you today to recognise if we want to see a new Believer COMPLETELY & PERMANENTLY (molded) we must assist in the process more and more.

The Mentor’s role is so important, he has so much to share with the new Believer, and this sure takes time. I can look back on almost 70 years of Christian experience, and have so many regrets, I was not told about

My INHERITANCE NOW, that there is total PROVISION for me to live a victorious holy life.

That without FAITH it is impossible to please God Heb. 11:6 NKJV But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (see yesterday’s blog on the source of faith.)

Even with a Mentor it is still a LONG TERM PROCESS (Rome wasn’t built in a day). At this moment near to our Villa in our Retirement Village construction has begun on our clubhouse, it is at least 3 times the size of an average home, and will take about 6 months to build, but every day I can see change and growth, THIS IS THE WAY IT CAN BE FOR YOU AND ME IN OUR WALK WITH THE LORD.

Do you have a Mentor?

Do you have the attitude of Joshua (5:14 NKJV) “What does my Lord say to His servant”?

We sure can’t change the past, but we can sure change the future both personally, by seeking out a Mentor, and being available to someone else to walk with them until BEING A CHRISTIAN IS A LIFESTYLE.
