CONSTANT VICTORY IS OUR INHERITANCE

By John Ollis

In Matthew 6:9-13 NKJV we read what is commonly called The Lord’s prayer. but is better described as the Disciples Prayer.
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
AND DO NOT LEAD  US INTO TEMPTATION
,BUT DELIVER US FROM THE EVIL ONE.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
It is verse 13 (which I have highlighted)  that I want to share about today.  I have printed out the NKJV as it is the one that many of us were brought up to prayer either in a service or alone. It would seem it is not a good translation. Others  translations say.
AMP. N.T. Bring us not to temptation
NLT Don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.
MESSAGE  Keep us safe from ourselves and the devil
It never sounded correct, that we would ask the Lord NOT to lead us into temptation, we are very capable of leading ourselves and of course the evil one is so good at doing that. As “All thing work together for good” (Rom.8:28) the Lord sometimes permits situations to occur, that gives the opportunity and privilege to call upon the Lord and embrace His grace in every situation.
I know that I often pray, “Help me to be sensitive and recognise where a situation could take me”.
I guess the reality is that until the day we die, or when Jesus breaks through the clouds we will experience temptation. I thank God for His glorious promise in 1 Cor. 10:13 AMP. N.T. or no temptation (no trial regarded as enticing to sin), [no matter how it comes or where it leads] has overtaken you and laid hold on you that is not common to man [that is, no temptation or trial has come to you that is beyond human resistance and that is not adjusted and adapted and belonging to human experience, and such as man can bear]. But God is faithful [to His Word and to His compassionate nature], and He [can be trusted] not to let you be tempted and tried and assayed beyond your ability and strength of resistance and power to endure, but with the temptation He will [ALWAYS] also provide the way out (the means of escape to a landing place), that you may be capable and strong and powerful to bear up under it patiently..
NLT.If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall. The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, HE WILL SHOW YOU A WAY OUT  so that you can endure.
MESSAGE No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; He’ll always be there to help you come through it.
May this glorious truth become a Rhema Word to every one of u, NOT THAT WE CANNOT SIN, BUT NEED NOT SIN. In EVERY temptaion there is a way out.
Here is an awesome promise to embrace and confess. James 1:12 NLT God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
God has given us such an Armoury, and such a present inheritance,, let us not make excuses, nor listen to the voices of compromise, but by His grace stand strong and victorious.
