OUR INHERITANCE (Lenten 6)

By John Ollis

I personally was greatly blessed as I wrote yesterday’s blogs HOLY COMMUNION (Lenten4) & OUR INHERITANCE (Lenten 5), especially (5) as I had been meditating on all the benefits and blessings (inheritance) that flows to the Believer as a result of Christ’ death and resurrection, and my Pastoral heart was aching for the many who do not know what is available to them even though they know they are born again..
I am assuming that all my readers are Believers, but then I felt the Holy Spirit prompt me, to highlight the most important fact and I guess the most important part of our  inheritance that flows from Calvary THAT IS OUR SO GREAT SALVATION.
Adam and Eve had such an idyllic relationship with God (their Creator) and lost everything in a moment of temptation, and as a consequence all creation since has been under a curse. We have to contend with a sinful nature, and no interest in God, we had the wrath of God upon mankind, and Jesus took our EVERY SIN (PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE) AND THE WRATH OF GOD UPON HIMSELFAND CARRIED IT AWAY.
God’s Salvation plan was born in eternity past, even before He created man, He saw Adam and Eve sin, and He designed a REMEDY FOR SIN. Paul tells us at that time, God CHOSE us, and knows us by name personally, and in His timing the Holy Spirit begins to convict and convince us of sin, then the Holy Spirit, woos and draws us, and places faith in our heart, Eph. 2:8-9 AMP N.T. For it is by free grace (God’s unmerited favor) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation) through [your] faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own striving], but it is the gift of God;
Not because of works [not the fulfillment of the Law’s demands], lest any man should boast. [It is not the result of what anyone can possibly do, so no one can pride himself in it or take glory to himself.]
MESSAGE Saving is all his idea, and all his work. All we do is trust him enough to let him do it. It’s God’s gift from start to finish! We don’t play the major role. If we did, we’d probably go around bragging that we’d done the whole thing! No, we neither make nor save ourselves. God does both the making and saving. He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join him in the work he does, the good work he has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing.
I will never ever forget that day when it happened to me, I don’t “hope” I am saved I KNOW 1 John 5:13 MESSAGE My purpose in writing is simply this: that you who believe in God’s Son will know beyond the shadow of a doubt that you have eternal life, the reality and not the illusion.
Plus since that day despite (or because of my ignorance of my inheritance) I have failed the Lord so much, and yet as John tells us in 1 John 1:9 Our God is ever true to His Name, His nature and His promises, that if we confess our sin He will continue forgive us,  AMP.N.T If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just (true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins [dismiss our lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse us from all unrighteousness [everything not in conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action].
WHEN WE UNDERSTAND OUR INHERITANCE WE CAN LIVE ABOVE SIN, NOT THAT WE CANNOT SIN, BUT NEED NOT SIN. GOD’S GRACE CAN GIVE US POWER TO LIVE A HOLY LIFE.
I have not written one new thing in this blog today, but to remind us all, about making the most of this Lenten period, reflecting on our so great Salvation, and comprehending by revelation all that flowed from Christ’s death and resurrection, and that the fruit of our reflecting and meditation is going to bring us into a deeper more intimate and victorious relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ amen.
