GETTING AND DEEPENING YOUR VISION (Lenten 22)

By John Ollis

although Lent finishes on Resurrection Sunday, the awesome results of our Lenten journey should go on and on, all because of the decisions we have made during this time, and  because of the revelations the Lord has given us as we meditated on numerous important truths.
Not only on Resurrection Sunday will we be aware in our spirit some awesome things have taken place, but I am echoing Paul’s words in Phil. 1:6 NLT And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will CONTINUE his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
I want to highlight Solomon’s words today found in Proverbs 29:18 NKJV Where there is no revelation, NO VISION the people cast off restraint; but happy is he who keeps the law.
NLT When people do not accept divine guidance, DO NOT HAVE A VISION)  they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful.
The first part of the verse is in the plural (people) but the end result for the individual is joy and happiness.
Solomon indicates here that our vision  is BIRTHED AND FED BY THE WORD OF GOD.
So as we move along in our Lenten journey, and let the Holy Spirit speak to us from His Word, and that we listen to the  “still small voice of the Spirit” (within us (which will ALWAYS agree with the written Word) A VISION IS GOING TO FORM OR BE ENLARGED AND REFRESHED IN OUR HEART.

  • ABOUT OUR WALK WITH THE LORD
  •  ABOUT BEING A BETTER HUSBAND (OR WIFE)
  •  ABOUT OUR MINISTRY
  •  ABOUT OUR UNSAVED OR LUKEWARM FAMILY MEMBERS
  •  PLUS OTHER THINGS THE LORD WANTS TO PLACE IN OUR HEART

The different translations suggest if we don’t have a vision we could

  • RUN WILD
  • CAST OF RESTRAINT
  • PERISH !!!!!
  • STUMBLE OVER OURSELVES

May a  VISION begin to grow in your heart even from today, may you:

  • FEED IT THROUGH PRAYER AND MEDITATION ON THE WORD OF GOD.
  •  BEGIN TO CONFESS IT BEFORE THE LORD EVERY DAY
  •  LET IT CONSUME YOU
  •  WRITE IT DOWN HAVE IT EVER IN YOUR SIGHT

Is there an old saying that goes something like this:

IF WE AIM FOR NOTHING WE ARE SURE TO HIT IT

May your vision change your life, and the lives of many other people amen
