WHAT IS BIBLICAL PROSPERITY?
Although Paul was writing to Timothy his son in the faith who was a Pastor, his words are extremely relevant to every Believer, in 2 Timothy 2:15
AMP. N.T. Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, CORRECTLY ANALIZING AND DIVIDING [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.
N.L.T. Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who CORRECTLY EXPLAINING THE WORD OF TRUTH.
Throughout Church History, there has developed many heresies because Believers, would take a verse/s out of context, and misinterpret what the sacred text was really saying. Not, that we have to be Greek or Hebrew Scholars, or know all about Hermeneutics (The Principles of Interpretation) but we sure should be able to eat the “meat” of the Word of God, (meaning we sure spend and have spent much time reading & meditating in the Word of God. and be in a growing relationship with the Lord, and then we will experience John 15:26 NKJV However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; Having a mentor to bounce your thoughts off is also a great blessing.
I have said all the above, because of the subtle heresy called the Prosperity Gospel. The word PROSPER & PROSPERITY are often used in the Scriptures, and are so easily taken out of context and be misinterpreted.
In Missions I taught what is called REDEMPTION LIFT, that when a person comes to Christ, his life and lifestyle dramatically changes, and often the many bad habits a person had prior to coming to Christ were costly, both financially and physically. So most Christians find their standard of living lifts as a result of being born again.
We discover when we are saved, Jesus is JEHOVAH JIREH the Lord my provider Gen. 22:14, and Paul’s words are personally true for us, we read in Phil.4:19 NKJV And my God shall SUPPLY ALL YOUR NEED according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.
When we are sick Jesus is JEHOVAH RAPHA The Lord who heals Ex. 15:26
My word to you (and to myself) is expressed in 3 John 2.
NKJV Beloved, I pray that you may PROSPER in all things and be in health, just as your soul PROSPER.
PASSION Beloved friend, I pray that you are PROSPERING in every way and that you continually enjoy good health, just as your soul is PROSPERING.
MESSAGE I pray for good fortune in everything you do, and for your good health—that your everyday affairs PROSPER.
SO WHAT DO WE DO????
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall MEDITATE in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way PROSPEROUS, and then you will have good SUCCESS. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
I REFUSE TO HAVE A POVERTY MENTALITY
I BELIEVE IN A BIBLICAL CHRISTIAN PROSPERITY
- LIVE IN THE WORD AND OBEY IT
- MEDITATE ON THE WORD
- BECOME EVER MORE INTIMATE WITH THE LORD.
