GOD’S WORD-THE BIBLE (2)

By John Ollis

I do pray that the descriptions the Bible gives of itself, will give you a broader and deeper understanding of why God’s Word MUST have priority in our life.

Jeremiah declares in 23:29 AMP. N.T. Is not My word like FIRE [that consumes all that cannot endure the test]?

N.L.T. Does not my word BURN like fire?” says the Lord.

MESSAGE Isn’t my Message like FIRE?” God’s Decree.

The Word of God, burns, cleanses and purges all that is contrary to its Holy standard. Just as heat is applied for example to say gold and the impurities will begin torise to the surface and the Goldsmith will take his “muck rake” and remove the “muck, then add more heat, and more muck rises to the surface, and he will continue to do this until no more muck rises, he knows the gold is pure, WHEN HE CAN SEE HIS FACE REFLECTED IN THE GOLD.

So every time we go and spend time in the Word of God, let us pray that the Word of God would reveal to us any area that needs to be cleansed and purged, and when it is revealed, we respond to the Holy Spirit’s conviction, and repent, and claim cleansing

THANK GOD THE WORD IS LIKE A FIRE.

Jeremiah goes on in Jer. 23:29 AMP. N.T Like a HAMMER that breaks in pieces the rock [of most stubborn resistance]?

MESSAGE “Isn’t it like a sledgehammer BUSTING a rock?

Not only is the Word of God like fire, but is also described as a HAMMER that smashes and demolishes evil.

Again, let us learn to co-operate with the Word and not be willing to compromise in any way, so that the Word can BUST any evil situation in our own life or in our world.

THANK GOD HIS WORD IS LIKE A HAMMER.

The Psalmist declares in Psalm 119:9 105 AMP.N.T. Your word is a LAMP to my feet and a LIGHT to my path.

PASSION Truth’s SHINING LIGHT guides me in my choices and decisions; the revelation of your word makes my path clear.

MESSAGE By your words I can see where I’m going;
they throw a BEAM OF LIGHT on my dark path.

The Word of God is an instrument of light and illumination in the darkness. That is why John encourages us in 1 John 1:7 AMP.N.T But if we [really] are living and walking in the Light, as He [Himself] is in the Light, we have [true, unbroken] fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses (removes) us from all sin and guilt [keeps us cleansed from sin in all its forms and manifestations].

MESSAGE But if we walk in the light, God himself being the light, we also experience a shared life with one another, as the sacrificed blood of Jesus, God’s Son, purges all our sin.

Let us remember to pray when we open the Word of God, “LORD TURN ON THE LIGHT”.

May I encourage you to mediate on these three descriptions the Bible describes of itself, and may we personally experience the reality of this glorious truth amen.
