By John Ollis

I have been greatly challenged by some fairly well known verses in The Book of Hebrews relative to our spiritual hunger or lack of it. I am going to list a number of translations as there is so much truth here, I want ot make sure I catch it all and you do too. Hebrews 5:13-14

NKJV For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their SENSES EXCERCISTED TO DISCERN both good and evil.

N.L.T. For someone who lives on milk is still an infant and doesn’t know how to do what is right. Solid food is for those who are mature, who through TRAINING have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong.

AMP. N.T. For everyone who continues to feed on milk is obviously INEXPERIENCED AND UNSKILLED IN THE DOCTRINE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS (of conformity to the divine will in purpose, thought, and action), for he is a mere infant [not able to talk yet]!
But solid food is for full-grown men, for those whose SENSES AND MENTAL FACULTIES ARE TRAINED BY PRACTICE TO DISCRIMINATE AND DISTINGUISH between what is morally good and noble and what is evil and contrary either to divine or human law.

PASSION For every spiritual infant who lives on milk is NOT YET PIERCED BY THE REVELATION OF RIGHTEOUSNESS. But solid food is for the mature, whose spiritual senses perceive heavenly matters. And they have been adequately trained by what they’ve experienced to emerge with understanding of the difference between what is truly excellent and what is evil and harmful.

MESSAGE Milk is for beginners, inexperienced in God’s ways; solid food is for the mature, who have some practice in telling right from wrong.

So we have to ask ourselves:

How HUNGRY are we for the Word of God?

How much QUALITY time are we spending in the Word of God?

Have we learnt to MEDITATE on the Word of God?

Do we know how to let the information become REVELATION?

Can we distinguish between Logos and RHEMA?

Only you can personally answer those questions, I pray your answers will be in the POSITIVE.

Sadly, there are many Christians who are still “babes” AFTER MANY YEARS, because they have not graduates from milk to meat, yet if we respond to the prompting of the Spirit and immerse ourselves in the word of God, can soon be growing and leave the “bottle” behind forever.

The writer indicates a key revelation is the truth we must “see” is that through the death and resurrection of the Lord Christ, we have been DECLARED RIGHTEOUS, and as we walk in obedience to the Lord and let WORD WORK IN US, we practically can start to walk and live a righteous life.

For the more we let the Word work in us, and learn to graduate from milk to meat, we develop an ability to DISCERN & DISTINGUSH what is right and wrong (true & false).

When we are pierced by the revelation (like an injection) or like conception by the divine sperma (seed) of the Word of God 1 Peter 1:23 and let the Holy Spirit and the Word TRAIN US we are moving forward into ever increasing victory and holiness and maturity.

Will you give consideration on the 5 questions I listed and if there needs to be adjustments, make them without delay, and begin to move from milk to meat.

I trust this blog will bless and encourage you.
