INTIMATE COMMUNICATION WITH JESUS

By John Ollis

I have a very dear Asian friend who is a great Bible teacher, and also a first class Interpreter, and we have worked together manty times. He must have remembered a statement I make when I teach on PRAYER, my definition is:

PRAYER IS THE INTIMATE COMMUNICATION BETWEEN TWO LOVERS.

He messaged me recently asking if I had any teaching on developing and maintaining intimacy in prayer, I haven’t, but felt I would write a blog on the topic. I have said numerous times I am a novice when it comes to prayer, but I have learnt a few things over the 69 years I have been a Believer, and I will share them here,.

As in human relationships our will sure plays an important part in the deepening of our prayer life, our biggest problem (challenge) is ourselves, as we daily have to seek daily to deal with our flesh and our sinful nature.

My readers know I am convinced I (we) need to prepare our heart for prayer with Confession and Repentance, and then re-affirming Christ’s Lordship over my (our) life (Rom. 12:1) then spend considerable time in Thanksgiving and Praise, for all that the Lord has done for me (us), especially in relation to His death and resurrection and dealing with the “sin question” not only for all but for me personally, this often moves my heart to tears as I contemplate the power of the Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Father’s “SO GREAT SALVATION” that causes me to bow low, and to WORSHIP , (love, kiss adore, adore and magnify the Lord). Then I consider the glorious inheritance that we have NOW, tro be able to live a holy victorious life, and develop and deepen our relationship with the Lord/

I am also so aware too of the glorious truth in Rom. 5:5 NKJV The love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

GOD ACTUALLY PUTS HIS AGAPE LOVE IN US, SO WE CAN LOVE GOD, I guess the reality is, I am incapable of loving God and having an intimate relationship with Him, unless we let the agape love of God flow through us then we can love God and be intimate with Him..

I am also ever aware of James’ words in James 4:3 NKJV You do not have because you do not ask. and Jesus Himself saying ASK AND KEEP ON ASKING (Matt. 7:7). It is the prayer God will ALWAYS ANSWER.

I also use my “prayer language (love language) and spend time letting my heart communicate what I cannot fully express in my English tongue. Thank God every Believer can and should pray in unknown TONGUES EVERY DAY.

So these are a few of the things I have learnt, but every day, I must choose to “meet the Lord between the wings of the Cherubim in the throne room” and seek intimacy with the “lover of my soul” and ever desire that intimacy to deepen, amen
