TREASURES IN THE DARKNESS

By John Ollis

I am sure no one would disagree with me that 2020 was a DARK TIME in our lives, in our nation, and in world history, we thank God for the vaccine, but it will be many moNths I guess before we see the full positive effects of it.

I am reminded of a Scripture found in Is.45:3 KJV

And I will give thee the TREASURES of DARKNESS, and HIDDEN RICHES OF SECRET PLACES,
that thou mayest know that I, the Lord, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.

I have written previously that I seem to have experienced many more answers to prayer during this difficult DARK time.

I happened to notice that the word “treasures” had numerous expressions of truth in its meaning in the Hebrew language.

A DEPOSITORY Our God has such a huge deposit of blessings He wants to pour out upon us.

AN ARMOURY Again our God has many weapons He wants to give us to stand against our enemies and be victorious.

A GARNER OR STOREHOUSE, where the fruits of past harvests are stored, and He wants to share them with us.

A TREASURE HOUSE, Our God wants to meet all our needs according to His RICHES in Glory.

Isaiah says our God has “hidden riches in secret places” and as Jesus and James reminds us, we need to ASK AND KEEP ON ASKING and these TREASURES IN THE DARKNESS will be made available to us.

Isaiah concludes, that the greatest treasure we can have is the glorious assurance HE KNOWS MY NAME, in the midst of the darkness He calls me, PERSONALLY BY NAME, why??? Paul reminds us in Ephesians 1:4-6 NKJV just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

Our God chose us in eternity past, He knows my name, and loves me with an EVERLASTING LOVE.

The Lord has permitted the darkness FOR OUR GOOD Rom. 8:28-30 NKJV And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

We many not have enjoyed the darkness, and I am sure it has been very difficult to give thanks in everything. More and more we will look back, and not think of the darkness, but all the TREASURES we have received, and will give God ALL THE PRAISE AND GLORY AMEN.
