REVELATION & THE WORD OF GOD

By John Ollis

I had the radio on recently, I was only half listening to this secular interview, and I heard the person (being interviewed) exclaim “IT WAS SUCH A REVELATION TO ME”, I have no idea what the topic was, but I will not soon forget his response. Non-Christians as well as Christians seem to use this term revelation whether they fully understand what it means or not.

All the (so called Christian) false cults, such as Mormonism, S.D.A.s, J.W. are all steeped in the “revelations” of their founders, and their teachings have messed up millions of lives.

The word REVELATION is used much in the Bible, and means a disclosure of truth, an unveiling, in other words something we either did not really know or had limited understanding of. Sadly, many Christians talk about their “revelations” but often these “revelations” do not line up with the Word of God, but because a person thinks they have received a “revelation” sometimes it is of little consequence to them if their revelation does not agree with the rest of Word of God.

Revelation and the Word of God can NEVER be separated, unless a “revelation” lines up with the whole of the Word of God (The Bible) then it must be discarded, as God has never, nor will ever say anything to us that does not line up with His Word I have written many times about the two Greek words used in the N.T. for the Word of God, they are Logos & Rhema. Logos is the written Word of God, and Rhema is when the Word of God is “quickened” to our Spirit, and it becomes a very personal Word to us. Paul tells us in Rom.10:17 NKJV So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the (Rhema) word of God. When the Word of God is “quickened” to us, it produces FAITH in our heart, and the Word becomes VERY PERSONAL AND ESPECIALLY REAL TO US. Again Paul tells us in Eph. 6:18 NKJV Take the Sword of the Spirit, which is the (Rhema) word of God; When the Word of God is quickened to us it becomes a “weapon of warfare” against the enemy. Remember the Sons of Skeva, (Acts 19:14) the devil just laughed at them as the Word of God had not become the Sword of the Spirit against the enemy.

I have again written many times about that 12 INCH DROP FROM HEAD TO HEART, the teaching and truth is no longer just information, but has become A PERSONAL REVELATION.

In 1 John 5:13 NKJV we see the Word of God and the Holy Spirit working together “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may KNOW that you have eternal life.

It is not enough for some Preacher to say “Now you have prayed that prayer you are now a Christian” WE MUST KNOW BY REVELATION, we have been born again, We may not know much, but we can say when the Word of God is quickened to us I KNOW BECAUSE I KNOW I AM BORN AGAIN,I HAVE THE GIFT OR ETERNAL LIFE.

The Word of God has much to say about not only that we should read the Word of God, but we need to RE-DISCOVER THE LOST ART OF MEDITATION OF THE WORD OF GOD. Instead of rushing through to read many chapters of the Word of God, slowly, read, (chew over/contemplate) look at numerous translations and ask the Holy Spirit to speak to us (turn the Light on). Again you know I say do not open your Bibles until you have prayed first (like preparing a garden bed) so your heart is prepared to receive the “incorruptible” seed of the Word of God” believing the Holy Spirit will water the “seed” so it becomes a RHEMA WORD TO YOU.

May we all get a “revelation” of the uniqueness of the Word of God, which is filled with the “breath of God” (The Holy Spirit) and let us learn to hear His Voice in the Word, it will TRANSFORM US, & TAKE US TO A NEW LEVEL OF FAITH AND RELATIONSHIP WITH OUR GOD AMEN.

Once again, I have not written anything new, but may the Holy Spirit refresh your thinking about this topic, and may we commit to the command and promise in Josh, 1:8 NKJV This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall MEDITATE in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
