WHAT AN AWESOME GOD WE LOVE AND SERVE.

By John Ollis

Isn’t it awesome truth that God does not (in one sense) have favourites, as Peter declares in Acts 10:34 N.L.T. Then Peter replied, “I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism. The Passion translation expresses it this way “Now I know for certain that God doesn’t show favoritism with people but treats everyone on the same basis”.

Yet, we read these wonderful words in Eph. 1:4 NKJV just as He CHOSE us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having PREDESTINED us to ADOPTION as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will.

N.L.T. Even before He made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in His eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into His own family by bringing us to Himself through Jesus Christ. This is what He wanted to do, and it gave Him great pleasure.

PASSION And He chose us to be His very own, joining us to Himself even before He laid the foundation of the universe! Because of His great love, He ordained us, so that we would be seen as holy in His eyes with an unstained innocence.
For it was always in His perfect plan to adopt us as His delightful children, through our union with Jesus, the Anointed One, so that His tremendous love that cascades over us would glorify His grace —for the same love He has for His Beloved One, Jesus, He has for us. And this unfolding plan brings Him great pleasure!

MESSAGE Long before He laid down earth’s foundations, He had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago He decided to adopt us into His family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure He took in planning this!)

This verse does not disagree with what we read in Acts 10:34, God in His Omniscience (all-seeing & all-knowing), saw us in eternity past, He saw the Holy Spirit moving upon us, and drawing us, and we responding to the Holy Spirit convicting us, and God giving us Grace and faith to repent Eph. 2:8-9 NKJV For by GRACE you have been saved through FAITH, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

The Bible describes this experience as being born again, we read in John 3:3 NKJV Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

I am sure my readers will never forget that glorious day, when in their own life this transaction took place, and we knew in a moment of time WE WERE FORGIVEN, as John says in 1 John 1:9 NKJV If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just (HE IS TRUE TO HIS NAME,HIS NATURE AND HIS PROMISES. to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

So, in one sense God has no favourites, but in another HE PERSONALLY CHOSE US (IN ETERNITY PAST). So much so HE KNOWS MY NAME, Isaiah tells us in Is. 49:10 N.L.T., I have written (engraved, inscribed) your name on the palms of My hands.

We read in Heb. 7:25 N.L.T. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf. The Passion Translation says He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf. God sees our name and promises to meet all our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus Phil;. 4:19

Again there is nothing new in this blog, just a sweet reminder of how much our God loves us, and made everything available to us for “life and Godliness” 2 Peter 1:3. May it be a refreshing blessing to you as you read.
