HOW SPIRITUALLY SECURE ARE YOU?
I am sure not going to get into doctrinal arguments over such matters as “eternal security”, or “once saved always saved” doctrines, but I want to highlight today Psalm 91:3-4 NKJV Surely He shall DELIVER you from the snare of the fowler, and from the perilous pestilence.
He shall COVER you with His feathers, and under His wings you will take refuge; His TRUTH shall be your truth and buckler.
NLT For he will RESCUE you from every trap
and protect you from deadly disease.
He will cover you with his feathers.
He will SHELTER you with his wings.
His FAITHFUL PROMISES are your armor and protection.
PASSION He will rescue you from every hidden trap of the enemy,
and he will PROTECT you from false accusation
and any deadly curse.
His massive arms are WRAPPED around you, protecting you.
You can run under his covering of majesty and hide.
His arms of faithfulness are a shield keeping you from harm.
MESSAGE Say this: “God, you’re my refuge.
I trust in you and I’m safe!”
That’s right—he rescues you from hidden traps,
shields you from deadly hazards.
His huge outstretched arms protect you—
under them you’re perfectly safe;
his arms fend off all harm.
Can you visualise little chickens running to the mother hen and the chickens hiding and finding protection under their mother’s feathers. What a glorious promise God gives us here in these verses. This is what we must learn to do constantly.
The key truth for us is in verse 4, where the Psalmist reminds us of the importance of knowing and embracing the Word of God, it will be our armour and protection.
The various translations above are emphasizing God’s UNFAILING FAITHFULNESS to us in His Word.
Our relationship with God is 2 sided, He is ever faithful in fulfilling His Word. Our responsibility is to CO-OPERATE WITH GOD’S WORD (again constantly) so we can continue to receive that protection.
Paul especially reminds us that we now have a set of armour that we must learn experientially that we must PUT IT ON CONTINUALLY, we have an enemy, and can never take a day off from the war.
IN OTHER WORDS IF WE WILL DO OUR PART GOD PROMISES TO CONTINUALLY DO HIS PART, AND WE ARE GUARANTEED HIS TOTAL PROTECTION AND CONTINUED VICTORY.
May I encourage you to spend more time in the Word of God, and discovering more and more of your inheritance NOW as a child of God, let it not be theory, and information, let it be progressive revelation so can experience more and more of what God has available to us amen.
