ARE YOU READY? THE LORD IS COMING SOON
We read in Luke 10:40 NKJV the words of Jesus to His disciples Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. Two Thousand years ago Jesus was reminding them to LIVE IN THE LIGHT OF HIS SOON RETURN. This is also how the early Church, ever were LOOKING UP anticipating the Lord’s return.
If ever these words and encouragement were important, it sure is in this hour in which we live.
I am NOT into setting dates, but I do not think there has ever been so many signs of Christ’s soon return. I sure don’t have to list them they are obvious literally every day as we watch or listen to the News.
The sad thing is, so many believers are either blind and deaf to all these signs, or are so letting THIS WORLD SQUEEZE THEM INTO ITS MOULD and literally live as if that day is far away.
Living in the LIGHT OF CHRIST’S SOON RETURN changes our behaviour and attitudes, and we make sure we spend QUALITY TIME IN HIS PRESENCE IN PRAYER AND IN HIS WORD EVERY DAY.
Because the Lord loves us so much, and sees our often apathy He also WILL WORK ON US.
In my personal experience there are numerous things the Lord does. From the day we are born again, the indwelling Holy Spirit, will seek to convict us, and seek to draw us into the THRONE ROOM, Saints don’t neglect these promptings of the Holy Spirit.
We also read in Hebrews 12:6 NKJV For whom the LORD loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.”
AMP.N.T. For the Lord corrects and disciplines everyone whom He loves, and He punishes, even scourges, every son whom He accepts and welcomes to His heart and cherishes.
As parents because we love our children we have often disciplined then, not only because we love them, but do it so they won’t become deliquents.
The Greek word used for CHASTENS included punishment and EDUCATION so the Lord uses these times to teach us personally where we need to make changes in our lives, and he is ever available to give us all the help we need Hebrews 4:16 NKJV Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
The Greek word used for SCOURGES actually includes the picture of flogging or “cat of 9 tails whipping” sometimes we need this, but He does it out of love and not anger.
The key is that we :
Continually look up for our redemption draws near Luke 21:25-29 NKJV
Respond to the drawing of the Holy Spirit, even if at times you are not sure what is happening.
We have this glorious promise in Phil.1:6 NKJV Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; if we cooperate with the Lord and let Him work in us and we choose to fulfil Matt. 6:33 NKJV But seek first the kingdom (the rule) of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Let us let the Lord prepare us for eternity amen.
