FURTHER KEYS TO PROTECTING OUR MIND.
I want to add to my blog from yesterday, I am sure no one will disagree with me that THE MIND IS THE BATTLEFIELD OF THE SOUL, AND EVERY BATTLE IS WON OR LOST IN THE MIND.
The Apostle Paul challenges us in Rom.12:1 NKJV1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. AND WE MUST DO IT CONTINUALLY. Our body includes our mind, our will, our emotions, our drives and our senses.
In yesterday’s blog I majored on the need to resist the devil and he will withdraw. We must also co-operate with the Word of God and do our part in protecting our mind. Sadly, we develop many bad habits pre-conversion, and after we are born again this can continue, so it is important to resist the devil, but to assist us Paul writes in Phil.4:8-9 NKJV Finally, brethren, whatever things are TRUE, whatever things are NOBLE whatever things are JUST, whatever things are PURE, whatever things are LOVELY, whatever things are of GOOD REPORT, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—MEDITATE on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
AMP.N.T. For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].
9 PRACTICE what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and model your way of living on it, and the God of peace (of untroubled, undisturbed well-being) will be with you.
MESSAGE Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.
PASSION So keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always. 9 Follow the example of all that we have imparted to you and the God of peace will be with you in all things.
May I encourage you to read and meditate on these 5 translations, then look at every category of thought that Paul mentions and make a written list of numerous illustrations that cover every area, so that whenever a sinful thought comes into your mind, whether from within or without, begin to THINK ON THESE POSITIVE SPIRITUAL THINGS, this will greatly assist you to cast out the sinful thought/s in Jesus Name, and we must seek to continually fill your mind with these positive spiritual thoughts.
In practical and Biblical terms I am sure as we meditate on the Word of God and let the Holy Spirit QUICKEN His Word to us, and we embrace Paul’s teaching WE CAN HAVE COMPLETE VICTORY OVER EVERY SINFUL THOUGHT AND WALK IN VICTORY AMEN.
I do trust this teaching will help you, as we do our part, and let God do His part, we will enjoy more and more of our inheritance NOW, that is part of GOD’S SO GREAT SALVATION.
