AN ENCOURAGEMENT TO BE FLEXIBLE AND CHECK OUT OTHER BIBLE TRANSLATIONS.

By John Ollis

Some people are fanatical about the fact that in their opinion a certain translation of the Bible is perfect, some even go on and suggest that some translations are “almost” evil!!!

I guess we all have our personal preference, you also will note that I will often include 3 or 4 different translations in my blogs hoping it will make what I am trying to say clearer to my readers.

Because of the “human” element there is always the potential of some errors in translation, plus the Greek and Hebrew languages, has often like a diamond many interpretations/meanings to the one word and a translator may take the interpretation/meaning that suits his doctrine.

Some people don’t like the Amplified version (for example) because it often includes these various meanings in their text. Equally I was so blest when I read a verse we all know 1 John 1:9 KJV If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

In the AMP.N.T. it reads If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just (TRUE TO HIS OWN NATURE AND PROMISES) and will forgive our sins [dismiss our lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse us from all unrighteousness [everything not in conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action].

I GUESS THERE IS NO PERFECT TRANSLATION, BUT WE HAVE THE HOLY SPIRIT TO LEAD US INTO ALL TRUTH.

I receive an email daily (from someone I don’t even know) with A VERSE FOR THE DAY, and recently the verse was from the AMP.N.T. and it really blessed me it was from Heb. 13:5.

Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God]Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!] Hebrews 13:5

This verse says it all, may I encourage you to read it a few times and let the Holy Spirit quicken it to your spirit.

Please consider being “flexible” and check out other translations, you may be surprised and richly blest.
