CO-OPERATE WITH THE LORD AND HIS WORD AND ENJOY THE BLESSING OF GOD

By John Ollis

If there has been one aspect of truth that has become more and more real to me, it is the truth/fact that WE MUST CO-OPERATE WITH GOD AND SUBMIT TO HIM AND HIS WORD IF WE ARE TO SEE THE WILL OF GOD DONE IN AND THROUGH OUR LIVES.

For example I get frustrated when I hear Christians pray and ask the Lord to build His Church and quote Matt. 16:18 “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it” praying and asking the Lord to do it, and we will sit and wait for Him do it. I am sure every scholar would say that Jesus was saying I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH THROUGH YOU.

I am ever challenged by God’s Word to Moses and King David that they must BUILD THE HOUSE ACCORDING TO THE PATTERN OF GOD’S WORD. So as we interpret this verse in the light of the New Covenant, we must build our personal lives (our spiritual house) and the Church (God’s House) co-operating with and submitting to God’s Word.

I have said the above to highlight Gal. 5:22-23 NKJV But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Galatians 5:22-23.

The moment we were born again, the Holy Spirit came into our life. Paul tells us in Rom.5:5 NKJV the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Someone has described the Fruit of a Spirit like an 8 petal flower, and at the centre of the flower is the agape love of God.

Common sense and the Word of God tells us that if the Fruit of the Spirit is to grow in our lives we must cultivate it, and feed our hearts with the Word of God, and deepen our intimacy with the Lord.

Then as a New Believer we must learn to continually surrender ourselves to the Lord, so the Holy Spirit can continually FILL THE HOUSE, then we must learn to continually live the Spirit filled life Eph.5:18-21 NKJV be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 submitting to one another in the fear of God. See all the things positively we need to do.

  1. Speaking to one another in Psalms & Hymns & Spiritual songs
  2. Making melody in our heart to the Lord
  3. Giving thanks ALWAYS FOR ALL THINGS TO GOD, IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.
  4. Submitting to one another in the fear of the Lord.

We need to let all these things become part of our constant lifestyle and walk with the Lord, and by the grace of God walk in victory and holiness, otherwise Paul tells us we grieve the Holy Spirit. in Eph.4:30 NKJV do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

We must do it CONTINUALLY, as the moment we sin and fail the Lord, we are pushing the Holy Spirit off the throne in our heart, and we must invite the Holy Spirit to come and take His rightful place and FILL THE HOUSE AFRESH.

AMP.N.T. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God [do not offend or vex or sadden Him], by Whom you were sealed (marked, branded as God’s own, secured) for the day of redemption (of final deliverance through Christ from evil and the consequences of sin).

MESSAGE Don’t grieve God. Don’t break his heart. His Holy Spirit, moving and breathing in you, is the most intimate part of your life, making you fit for himself. Don’t take such a gift for granted.

Fellow Believers, we must do our part and co-operate with the Lord and His Word and embrace our inheritance, which is a part of God’s so great Salvation.
