THE KING IS COMING SOON
The Apostles taught that Christ could return in their lifetime, and that Believers needed to live in the awareness that Christ could break through the clouds at any time. Well, it didn’t happen in the first century and here we are about 2000 years later and the Lord has yet to return for His Church. I am sure there has been many times through the ages, that were were often many signs to suggest the end was near, and now in 2021 it would almost seem there has never been so many signs indicating that everything is going to wrap up soon.
As a young man, I had my Eschatology all laid out, and if you did not believe that Christ would come before a 7 year Tribulation period, followed by a literal 1000 year Millennial reign of Christ on the earth, then I considered you a heretic.
Today, I really don’t know when the end will come and in what order. I refuse to argue about who is the Antichrist or what is to happen when etc. etc. I think the enemy is really happy if we get arguing all about Eschatology, and I guess all Theology, as it takes the focus off what is the most important, which is our walk with God. John reminds us in 1 john 3:2-3 NKJV Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
AMP.N.T. Beloved, we are [even here and] now God’s children; it is not yet disclosed (made clear) what we shall be [hereafter], but we know that when He comes and is manifested, we shall [as God’s children] resemble and be like Him, for we shall see Him just as He [really] is.
And everyone who has this hope [resting] on Him cleanses (purifies) himself just as He is pure (chaste, undefiled, guiltless).
PASSION Beloved, we are God’s children right now; however, it is not yet apparent what we will become. But we do know that when it is finally made visible, we will be just like him, for we will see him as he truly is. And all who focus their hope on him will always be purifying themselves, just as Jesus is pure.
N.L.T. Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure.
MESSAGE But friends, that’s exactly who we are: children of God. And that’s only the beginning. Who knows how we’ll end up! What we know is that when Christ is openly revealed, we’ll see him—and in seeing him, become like him. All of us who look forward to his Coming stay ready, with the glistening purity of Jesus’ life as a model for our own.
We must live in the light of Christ’s return, and this motivation will cause us to press on into purity and holiness and victorious living..
Jesus Himself tells us in Luke 21:25-28 NKJV And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and LIFT UP YOUR HEADS BECAUSE YOUR REDEMPTION DRAWS NEAR“.
N.L.T. “And there will be strange signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. People will be terrified at what they see coming upon the earth, for the powers in the heavens will be shaken. Then everyone will see the Son of Man coming on a cloud with power and great glory. So when all these things begin to happen, stand and look up, for your salvation is near!”
PASSION Expect to witness amazing and perplexing signs throughout the universe with the sun, the moon, and the stars. The raging of the sea will bring desperation and turmoil to many nations. Earthquakes will bring panic and disaster. What men see coming to the earth will cause the fear of doom to grip their hearts, for they will even see the powers of the heavenly realm shaken!
“And at last, when you see how the Son of Man comes—surrounded with a cloud, with great power and miracles, in the radiance of his splendor, and with great glory and praises —it will make you jump for joy! For the day of your full transformation has arrived.”
MESSAGE It will seem like all hell has broken loose—sun, moon, stars, earth, sea, in an uproar and everyone all over the world in a panic, the wind knocked out of them by the threat of doom, the powers-that-be quaking.
“And then—then!—they’ll see the Son of Man welcomed in grand style—a glorious welcome! When all this starts to happen, up on your feet. Stand tall with your heads high. Help is on the way!”
These various translations clearly expresses the things that will happen at the time of the Lord’s return, and what must we do. LOOK UP FOR OUR REDEMPTION DRAWS NEAR.
So, with the Lord’s help, I am seeking EVERY DAY TO LIVE MY LIFE IN THE LIGHT OF CHRIST’S SOON RETURN, TO KEEP LOOKING UP, AND KEEP BUSY FULFILLING THE GREAT COMMISSION.
