THE BLESSINGS OF GOD

By John Ollis

We oldies all know the old hymn “Count your blessings, name them one by one”. Even though we know it, we can let ourselves get busy, or forgetful, or take for granted ALL the sings the Lord pours onto our lives EVERY day.
We know as parents (and I guess personally) the potential of selfishness that is in all of us, even post-conversion, we had to teach our children a thousand times to say please and thank you.
Today, again, let us start at the beginning and consider the blessings of Salvation that came to us when we were born again, all we deserved was the lowest hell, but Jesus came and set us free from the “law of sin and death” and gave us the “gift of eternal life”. That was just the start, we didn’t realise at that time that:
Not only were our sins forgiven, we could actually live above sin and walk in victory.
We had received a glorious inheritance, far beyond our wildest dreams.
We had access into the presence of God at ANY TIME.
We have received the blessings of Abraham.
The list goes on and on, we need to daily sit down and consider and thank God for all His blessings upon us, there are so many, we could count them “ton by ton”.
I am so aware of the Lord’s blessing upon my life, I am overwhelmed by His goodness, and grace, and His mercy.
I want to thank God for a restful night’s sleep, for every good and perfect gift that comes from above. For another new day, to live for Him and serve Him with ll my heart.
The Bible speaks of the “blessings of obedience” and that which  results  from consecrating ourselves to the Lord. The only life worth living is a life spent in surrender to the Lord.
I do not want to assume, because good things happen, that it is “good luck” I want to attribute everything that comes my way, as approved of the Lord, because I am seeking to walk in  obedience the to the Word of God.
Let me encourage you today, to deliberately sit down and consider all the Lord’s blessings upon your life, thanksgiving and praise to the Lord prepares our heart to bow down and worship the Lord.
let us “give thanks with a grateful heart” today and seek constantly to have an attitude of gratitude.
I trust you know Chris Tomlin’s awesome worship song, that expresses the above so well.

The splendor of the King, clothed in majesty
Let all the earth rejoice
All the earth rejoice

He wraps himself in Light, and darkness tries to hide
And trembles at His voice
Trembles at His voice

How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God

Age to age He stands
And time is in His hands
Beginning and the end
Beginning and the end

The Godhead Three in One
Father Spirit Son
The Lion and the Lamb
The Lion and the Lamb

Name above all names
Worthy of our praise
My heart will sing
How great is our God

How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God
