CONSIDERING OUR WAYS

By John Ollis

St. Augustine reminds us that “The New Testament is in the Old Testament concealed, and the Old Testament is in the Old Testament revealed”. I was reminded of this as I began to read the Book of Haggai today. My Mentor expresses it this way, that we often need to pass what we read in the Old Testament through the Cross and apply New Covenant Truth to the passage we are reading and the Holy Spirit will Turn the light on.
The Prophet complains that God’s people are enjoying their lavish homes but the House of God “lies in ruins”, and the message is that God’s people need to:

CONSIDER THEIR WAYS

As I apply the principle stated in the first paragraph, the challenge to me is that we are so busy doing our own thing, either ignorantly or deliberately disregarding God’s Word and  not building God’s House that is our life.
Am I, are you willing to ask yourself do I need to consider my ways?
Am I walking in my inheritance as Believer?
Am I walking in victory, purity and power?
Am I “seeking first the Kingdom of God (rule of God) and His righteousness Matthew 6:33?
Am I daily and constantly surrendering myself to the Lord?
These opening verses in Haggai has challenged me, and I want to reassess if I am “Building my life according to the pattern of the Word of God.
Lord help me to live in the light and hope of your soon return, The passion translation says of 1 john 3:3 And all who focus their hope on him will always be purifying themselves, just as Jesus is pure. AMEN
