DO YOU HAVE A DISCIPLEMAKER OR MENTOR IN YOUR LIFE?

By John Ollis

How close are we to that glorious day when Jesus comes back for his Church? Jesus tells us that no one knows the day or the hour, but that we must learn to “look up” and also look our for the signs, we know there will be wars and rumours of wars, famines any every possible cataclysmic event, and the reality is we live with these literally every day. Paul writing to the Thessalonians in his second letter 3:1-3 AMP N.T. BUT RELATIVE to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) and our gathering together to [meet] Him, we beg you, brethren,
Not to allow your minds to be quickly unsettled or disturbed or kept excited or alarmed, whether it be by some [pretended] revelation of [the] Spirit or by word or by letter [alleged to be] from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has [already] arrived and is here.
Let no one deceive or beguile you in any way, for that day will not come except the apostasy comes first [unless the predicted greatfalling away of those who have professed to be Christians has come], and the man of lawlessness (sin) is revealed, who is the son of doom (of perdition),

Paul tells us that in the last days before Jesus returns there will be a great falling away fro mthe faith of people who profess to be Believers. I have read just this week of a Pastor of a mega church in the US who has recently denied his faith, divorced his wife, and I understand is now in a same sex relationship. This is so sad.

Then I have read this week that an international Christian songwriter has publicly declared his Christian faith is on “shaky ground”. Again this makes me so sad.

When people of huge influence makes statements like this, it really shakes up many young Christians, and the enemy will take every opportunity to seek to undermine new Believers personal faith.

I have to say again, (as this is the burden of my heart) that every new Believer MUST be Biblically discipled. Which to me means that a Disciplemaker MUST walk with that person (teaching and training) FOR AS LONG AS IT TAKES until their Christian walk is a LIFESTYLE.

When that Believer has a call of God upon his life for Ministry THEY MUST HAVE A MENTOR, again someone who walks with them and keeps them ACCOUNTABLE in their Christian life and ministry.

These relationships CANNOT be long distance, they must be close enough and available enough so that if there are any challenges or struggles (and these are part of life) there is such a trust relationship between the two, and an openness and honesty and availability of the Disciplemaker or Mentor, to quickly nip any struggle in the bud.

Let us reject the mindset, that we can make it on our own. WE NEED EACH OTHER, that is why we are part of a body (and MUST be a psrt of a local Body the church). Let us humble ourselves and recognise we need each other, and if we don’t have someone we can walk with, or if we are in Ministry and do not have an accountability brother or sister, WE START TO PRAY RIGHT NOW, and ask the Lord to lead us to someone that we can cultivate a relationship with. Don’t rush the relationship take it slowly and prayerfully (we sure don’t propose on our first date). There will come a witness of the Holy Spirit this is a person you can be accountable too, then you ask them.

Can I ask you to prayerfully consider what I have said in this blog, let us make sure we have EVERY SAFEGUARD built into our lives, and make EVERY PROVISION that WE WILL FINISH WELL Amen.

Please feel free to write to me either through subscribing to my blog (it’s free) or email me at [email protected] I also use WhatsApp as well (you would need to want to give me your phone no. ok?), if I can clarify the above in any way, and help you in the way forward for you.

I look forward to hearing from you.
