MEDITATING & BELIEVING

By John Ollis

Psalm 27 is one of the great Psalms written by King David, it is full of testimony to the goodness and blessing of God upon his life. The verse that challenged and blest me today is verse 13 in the NKJV I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
That I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
The NLT says Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living.
In the Hebrew language the word translated BELIEVED has the added meaning of trust and continual steadfastness. In the Greek text the words for believe and faith are also very similar.
This is not just head knowledge but heart knowledge, this is why Paul says in Rom. 10:17 NKJV So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
As David meditated on the goodness of God, it didn’t matter what he saw with his natural eyes, God had given him a revelation. That is why the NLT uses the word  CONFIDENT.
Walking with Jesus is not a mind over matter experience. There is something so unique about the Word of God that as we meditate and ponder over it, something happens, the written word (Logos) becomes a personal (Rhema) word to us, and as David declares there can happen every day a 12inch drop from our head to our heart that produces faith (confidence) in our hearts, and despite our circumstances we do not need to lose heart because when we believe (have received that Rhema word we can say:
Rom. 8:37 NKJV Yet in all these things (I) we are MORE than conquerors through Him who loved us.
Phil. 4:13 NKJV I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me.
I have said nothing new in this simple blog today, but may the Lord help us over this busy festive season, to deliberately make time to do some meditating, and believing.

ENJOY THE GOODNESS OF GOD IN THE LAND OF THE LIVING.
