SPIRITUAL REVIVAL IN OUR DAY

By John Ollis

Each morning I watch the tv news for a few minutes and this usually includes the latest Covid-19 statistics for Australia and the world. We are greatly flattening the curve here in our nation, and there is talk that restrictions may begin to be lifted in the next few weeks and many people are counting the days and weeks until the pubs and coffee shops are re-opened, and that they can attend sporting games.

My heart was very stirred when I read David Wilkinson’s  1986 prophecy about the “plague” that would hit the world and especially New York (which the Covid-19 virus sure has), and the plague would cause prayerless  Christians to start praying and opening and reading their Bibles, and this would produce a turning to the Lord that in turn would produce the “Third Awakening”.

My concern is that as things are going so well here in Australia, both Believers and unbelievers are currently unchanged and not turning to the Lord, or this is how I currently perceive it.

I have a very dear Ministry friend of over 40 years, now in retirement, he was a leader in his denomination, and we talk regularly on the phone. He is very much involved in national and international prayer ministries. Only yesterday as we talked he mentioned the Day of Repentance  movement in the U.S. (I had never heard of this organization) and when I got off the phone i subscribed to their newsletter. I quickly started receiving information from them, for example there is a day of Repentance on May 1. I have written to my friend asking him for all the information he can give me (which I will include in my blogs) about prayer ministry and praying for revival.

In my email I confessed my profound ignorance of what is happening in the Body of Christ in Australia and around the world in regard to prayer and revival..

As I understand it all revivals in the past were born out of protracted prayer and repentance, and I sure want to see revival in my nation and around the world.

Let us lay hold of the awesome promise in 2 Chron. 7:14

AMP.OT. If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek, CRAVE, and require of necessity My face and TURN from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.

MESSAGE And my people, my God-defined people, respond by humbling themselves, praying, seeking my presence, and TURNING their backs on their wicked lives, I’ll be there ready for you: I’ll listen from heaven, forgive their sins, and restore their land to health.

LET US PRAY WITH HABUKKUK

3:2 AMP. O.T. O Lord, REVIVE Your work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make [Yourself] known! In wrath [earnestly] remember love, pity, and mercy.

MESSAGE Do among us what you did among them.
Work among us as you worked among them.
And as you bring judgment, as you surely must,
remember mercy.

AMEN
