HOW IMPORTANT IS RECONCILIATION?

By John Ollis

The Bible tells us that because of Adam’s sin, the whole of mankind has been estranged from God. The Bible also tells us that our All powerful, All seeing and knowing, and ever present God, created a plan in eternity past to see His creation reconciled to Himself.

Mankind is not interested in being reconciled to God, until he is presented with the Word of God, and the Holy Spirit begins to convict him of the fact he is a sinner and needs forgiveness, then the Holy Spirit begins to woo and draw him and places grace and faith in his heart to repent and seek forgiveness.

It is an almost indescribable experience that one moment we are spiritually dead, but when we are enabled to cry out GOD BE MERCIFUL TO ME A SINNER, in an instant the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin. Paul describes it this way in 2 Cor. 5:17 NKJV Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

IN A MOMENT OF TIME WE ARE RECONCILED TO GOD.

Rom. 5:10 NKJV For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

Col. 1:21 NKJV And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight.

We can then declare with the songwriter IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL.

I want to ask you how important is it to you to be reconciled on the horizontal. Do you have family members, Christian friends and even Ministry friends as well as unbelievers you are estranged from. Either something you said or did, or sadly what others may have said or done that has produced a wedge between you and another person?

does it concern you? I trust it does, I sincerely believe we should make EVERY EFFORT to seek to be reconciled. Some people I realise are uncontactable, have you tried social media ?? Have you tried prayer and asked the Lord to help you.

I am reminded of the words of Jesus in Matt:5:24 NKJV Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

It seems to me that if it is within our power to seek to reconcile, then we have a responsibility to do something about it. The Lord sure knows our heart, so we may make excuses to man, but cannot towards our God. If it is currently not possible or practical to do something at this time, please make it a matter of prayer, and ask for the Lord’s wisdom and guidance.

I am speaking to myself as I write these words, I have been seeking to do everything I can to be reconciled with some people., there are some I cannot trace, others are not responding, but I pray about it constantly.

I somehow think most of my readers can relate to what I am writing in this blog, to follow through is going to require humility and repentance, for those people that have told things that are not true, that can be even a greater challenge to bring about change and reconciliation. May we desire not only reconciliation with God but with man also.

Do you agree??? Your comments are always appreciated.
