WE NEED TO GOSSIP THE GOSPEL LIKE NEVER BEFORE.

By John Ollis

We all know that it is essential as Christians for us to develop an attitude of gratitude, recognising that God is in control and Rom. 8>28 NKJV is 100% correct. And we know that ALL things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

That is why Paul says in 1 Thess. 5:18 NKJV In EVERYTHING give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Everything of course means both giving thanks for the good things, and just as much when things are not going well.

I want to ask you today “when you are expressing your thanks to God does it really include everything”? Have you ever given considerable thought and meditation to the role and Ministry of the Holy Spirit in your life, long before you came to the place of repentance. It was He that convicted us our our sinful state and our eternal destination outside of Christ, It was He that drew us ever closer to God. It was He that placed Grace and Faith into our lives to give us the ability to repent.

1 Peter 1:23 NKJV tells us that He placed something into our life. (the incorruptible seed). Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.

This incorruptible seed was then watered by the Holy Spirit and spiritual conception took place and we were born again hallelujah. The Holy Spirit came to abide in us.

We then began to learn the importance of surrender to the Lord (Rom.12:1) and letting the Holy Spirit totally fill the house (our body) Eph. 5:18 NKJV but be (continually) filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God.

The Holy Spirit never puts the spotlight on Himself, He always causes our hear to be turned toward Jesus and our Heavenly Father. I want in this blog to spotlight one important aspect of the Holy Spirit’s ministry in our lives.

In Acts 1:8 NKJV we read But you shall receive power (Dunamis) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Here Dr. Luke highlights the fact when the Holy Spirit fills our lives we receive POWER, we love to emphasise the fact we have power to live Holy lives, but equally we have been given POWER TO BE A WITNESS to everyone who needs Jesus as their Saviour and Lord.

Not only were the new believers to witness to the Jews in Jerusalem (their own language and cultural group (Jerusalem) but also to other groups with not exactly the same language or exactly the same culture (Judea & Samaria). Then Luke says we are to witness to the ENDS OF THE EARTH. This includes every language and every culture.

We read in Acts 8:4 NKJV Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word. It would seem the Lord permitted and used persecution to unseat the new Believers in Jerusalem (only the Apostles remained in the city) and cause them to be scattered.

PASSION Although the believers were scattered by persecution, they preached the wonderful news of the word of God wherever they went.

MESSAGE Forced to leave home base, the Christians all became missionaries. Wherever they were scattered, they preached the Message about Jesus.

Every Believer without exception is called to fulfil the Great Commission Matt. 28:18-20 NKJV And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

May I ask you a personal question today? Have you witnessed to your faith lately? Do you think you need too?

I am reminded of Charles Spurgeon’s statement “

Have you NO WISH for others to be saved? Then you are NOT SAVED yourself , be sure of that”.

Did you see the MESSAGE translation of Acts 8:4 THE CHRISTIANS ALL BECAME MISSIONARIES, this was true in the first century and is still true in the twenty first century., again this is without exception. I am not saying you must leave our shores, your home, your school, your workplace, your community is YOUR MISSION FIELD.

2020 has been filled with bad news, we have GOOD NEWS and we must not keep it to ourselves. I want to be able to announce the same message we read in Acts 2:47 NKJV And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved. Do you agree with me? Will you partner with me?

This blog is not to condemn or criticise you, but to challenge you that you not only let people see Jesus in you, but you cannot help yourself in wanting to share the GOOD NEWS OF THE GOSPEL EVERYWHERE YOU GO.
