GIVE ME THIS MOUNTAIN

By John Ollis

At the conclusion of my last blog, I mentioned that a dear Pastor’s wife who I highly esteem, reminded me that at 80+ Caleb said to Joshua GIVE ME THIS MOUNTAIN, we read this in Joshua 14 6-14 NKJV

Caleb Inherits Hebron
Then the children of Judah came to Joshua in Gilgal. And Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him: “You know the word which the Lord said to Moses the man of God concerning you and me in Kadesh Barnea. I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land, and I brought back word to him as it was in my heart. Nevertheless my brethren who went up with me made the heart of the people melt, but I wholly followed the Lord my God. So Moses swore on that day, saying, Surely the land where your foot has trodden shall be your inheritance and your children’s forever, because you have wholly followed the Lord my God.’ And now, behold, the Lord has kept me alive, as He said, these forty-five years, ever since the Lord spoke this word to Moses while Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now, here I am this day, eighty-five years old. As yet I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in. Now therefore, give me this mountain of which the Lord spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and that the cities were great and fortified. It may be that the Lord will be with me, and I shall be able to drive them out as the Lord said.”
And Joshua blessed him, and gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh as an inheritance. Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, because he wholly followed the Lord God of Israel.

There is much we could write about Caleb today but I want to major on the “mountain”, except to say CALEB WHOLLY FOLLOWED THE LORD, (verse 13) and I have written many times the major key to doing or being anything for the Lord is to learn to LIVE THE SURRENDED LIFE.

So, this blog is all about the “mountain” that is before me as I prepare to turn 80 years old.

I have had the privilege of preaching to thousands of people in an outdoor Crusade in West Timor, I have regularly had the opportunity to teach classes of anything from 250 to almost 400 students. Our last Pastorate grew from 40 to 400 in 18 months, these have been exciting “mountains, but that is all in the past. At this present time, most of my ministry is far more “private” than public, and there are these 3 areas that I want to see develop more, and I am hoping the Lord may add something more to the list. GREATER EFFECTIVENESS AND GREATER FRUITFULNESS are the two goals in this new season.

INTERCESSION: there are currently 23 people I am praying for who need to be born again, and there are ministries from so many nations I am interceding for,

BLOGGING: May my new blog site boskoteachingandmentoring.com be a blessing to many Believers and young ministries.

MENTORING: May the Whatsapp video sessions with young ministries especially in Asia go to a new level,

So like Caleb, I am saying to the Lord GIVE ME THIS MOUNTAIN, please walk with me to get to the peak amen.
