LET US SEE HOW PAUL WANTED TO KNOW JESUS.
A favourite verse of mine is Phil;.3:10 NKJV 10 That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,
Many people want to know the Lord but on their terms, here Paul spells out how he wanted to know the Lord. I will list some other translations that may be a blessing to you too.
AMP.N.T. [For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may PROGRESSIVELY BECOME MORE DEEPLY AND INTIMATELY ACQUAINTED recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know THE POWER OUTFLOWING FROM HIS RESURRECTION [which it exerts over believers], and that I may so SHARE HIS SUFFERINGS as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death.
PASSION And I continually long to know the wonders of Jesus more fully and to experience the overflowing power of his resurrection working in me. I will be one with him in his sufferings and I will be one with him in his death.
The moment we were born again the Holy Spirit came to reside in our lives, and as we began to grow in Grace, we discovered that He did not just want to be resident but PRESIDENT of our lives, as we saw in the recent blog series.
Paul is indicating here, that if we want to know the overflow and anointing of the Holy Spirit in our lives, we must also be CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST Gal. 2:20 NKJV I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me
I guess suffering may be different to everyone, but we must learn to die to our own plans and desires, and let the Sovereign Lord rule and reign in every part of our lives.
This is all part of God’s plan in our lives as we begin this pilgrimage with the Lord, did you note the Amp. translation says that PROGRESSIVELY BECOME MORE DEEPLY ACQUINTED WITH The Lord.
We sure need a Disciple-maker to walk with us on this pilgrimage, it is quite a long process but we have this glorious promise in Phil.1:6 NKJV Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;
That is why we must learn to continually surrender daily to the Lord, and declare NOT MY WILL BUT THINE BE DONE.
I pray that your and my pilgrimage with the Lord is becoming more blest and fruitful every day as we let the Lord continue to COMPLETE HIS WORK IN US. amen
