HOW IS YOUR WALK WITH GOD?

By John Ollis

I have had the privilege over the years to teach and minister to many thousands of students and church members, and if you asked many of them what was the question John would often ask you? There answer would be:

HOW IS YOUR WALK WITH GOD?

I want us to look at and ponder over Eph. 5:1-2 AMP. N.T. THEREFORE BE imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example], as well-beloved children [imitate their father].
And walk in love, [esteeming and delighting in one another] as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, a slain offering and sacrifice to God [for you, so that it became] a sweet fragrance.
The PASSION Bible says Be imitators of God in everything you do, for then you will represent your Father as his beloved sons and daughters. And continue to walk surrendered to the extravagant love of Christ, for he surrendered his life as a sacrifice for us. His great love for us was pleasing to God, like an aroma of adoration—a sweet healing fragrance.
We know the old saying WE BECOME LIKE THE PEOPLE WE LIVE WITH, so the more time we spend in the presence of God, the more the likeness and nature of Jesus will shine through us. I want to be such an imitator of  Jesus, that people truly see Jesus in me.
So we must decide to WALKdaily and constantly with Jesus, I love the Passion translation that says we must be SURRENDERED TO THE EXTRAVAGANT LOVE OF JESUS. We are given a great start when we are born again, Paul tells us in Rom. 5:5 AMP N.T. for God’s  (agape)love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us.
God actually puts His love in our hearts so we can walk in love. He gives us His love so we can love Him, and as the AMP N.T says we can love our brothers and sisters in Christ.
This walking in love requires an act of our will,
We must choose to daily and constantly walk in love, in other words we must spend quality time seeking Him every day.
We must choose to walk in obedience.
God asked the question through Amos in 3:3
AMP. N.T. Do two walk together except they make an appointment and have agreed?
NLT Can two people walk together, without agreeing on the direction
MESSAGE Do two people walk hand in hand, if they aren’t going to the same place?
So, how is your walk with God, are you constantly going in the same direction with Him, are you surrendered to His extravagant love ?
May this simple thought bless and encourage  you.
