OUR SO GREAT SALVATION

By John Ollis

I sincerely wish I had been brought up in that part of the church world that recognises the utterly essential need from time to time to contemplate on where one is at spiritually  such as during Lent, and to make the necessary adjustments if that is deemed to be needed. Also to give serious thought to all that our Salvation includes. My last blog was some 10 pictures and aspects of truth that came to me as I was meditating on our GREAT SALVATION. Today, I want to give some thought to all that our Salvation includes following the glorious day, we were born again. We have said previously, that the Godhead saw man sinning, and decided to supply an answer to our alienation from God, and thus send Jesus to be that once and for all sacrifice for sin.
We literally have not one single excuse following our being born again, we can from day one through Biblical Discipleship begin to live victorious holy lives.
I think today about the various cleansing agencies that God has made available for us.

  1. The blood of Jesus cleansing us from all sin, not just that initial response, but If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 NKJV and the ongoing ministry of the blood being upon the Believer’s life, as expressed in 1 John 1:7  But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.  NKJV
  2. Paul speaks of the cleansing ministry of the Word of God on the Church (that’s us) that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the Word  Ephesians 6:26 NKJV
  3. The Holy Spirit  John the Baptist says in Luke 3:16 I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.  NKJV  In Malachi 3:2-3 we read, For He is like a refiner’s fire and like launderer’s soap, He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver NKJV. The Holy Spirit wants to come and purge and refine our hearts of all the dross and mixture in our lives, so we will be pure and holy. When we are born again the Holy Spirit comes in to take up residence in our lives, and the more we make Him PRESIDENT, we let Him get on with His purifying ministry, so we will be changed into the likeness of Jesus amen.  The first time we make Him President and He fills us to overflowing, we can speak in unknown tongues, and learn to pray in the Spirit. I thank God for the third member of the Godhead the blessed Holy Spirit.

Under number 2 we mentioned the Word of God and quoted Ephesians 5:26. I trust you love the Word of God and don’t just read it, but MEDITATE upon it, the Word of God is FOOD TO MAKE US GROW, but it is so much more.
I have written numerous times on the fact that the Bible uses 2 different Greek words for the word WORD.
(a) The Logos the written Word of God
(b) The Rhema, the Living quickened personal word, where God turns the “light on” and the INFORMATION BECOMES REVELATION.  I discovered afresh the other day, the word used in Eph. 5:26 is RHEMA, so this reinforces to me, we should seek to receive A RHEMA WORD EVERY DAY,  and so let the Word of God have an ever increasing cleansing and sanctifying ministry in our lives. I am going to now include some various translations of the verses 26 & 27  which may be helpful to you.
having cleansed [it] with the bathing of the water in the saying, that he might present it to himself the assembly in glory, not having spot or wrinkle, or any of such things, but that it may be holy and unblemished  Youngs Literal Translation
to sanctify it, and cleansed it in the fountain of water through the word, to make it for himself a glorious congregation, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but to be holy and without blame. Tyndale Translation
to make us holy and pure, cleansing us through the showering of the pure water of the Word of God. All that he does in us is designed to make us a mature church for his pleasure, until we become a source of praise to him—glorious and radiant, beautiful and holy, without fault or flaw. Passion Translation
Do you see some of the key words that must be reflected in the Greek text
BATHING
FOUNTAIN
SHOWERING
WASHING
I encourage you not to “paddle” on the shore, let the Word do all it needs to do in your life to make you the Man or Woman of God He called you to be in eternity past.
