PREPARATION & C0-OPERATION
Many of my readers will know I love King David and his writings, despite making major mistakes in his life, he repented (Psalm 51 NKJV) and developed a deep relationship with the Lord. I want to highlight 2 verses today, and emphasise that we must not take these or any other verses out of context and make sure any verse we read in the Bible lines up with the whole tenor of the Word of God. In Psalm 56:9 NKJV we read When I cry out to You, then my enemies will turn back; this I know because God is with me. Then in Psalm 4:3b The Lord will hear when I call to Him. Of course our Sovereign God hears every word when we pray, but David tells us in Psalm 66:18 NLT If I had not confessed the sin in my heart. David realised that we MUST PREPARE OUR HEARTS FIRST BEFORE WE PRAY, we need to see there is no unconfessed sin in our hearts first before we come to ask the Lord anything. I would suggest that there are numerous areas in our life we should prepare our hearts first, for example, when we go to church, we should be HEART PREPARED and ready to worship the Lord, the very first second the service starts.
When we come to the teachings in the New Testament, as well as heart preparation there must be co-operation on our part, especially in the context of our verses today, we have an enemy, we also have A BIG GOD who has given us a set of weapons. we read in 2 Cor. 10:4 NKJV For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.
Sadly, we are living in a generation because of the lack of Biblical Discipleship many bellievers do not know they must PREPARE their hearts, and CO-OPERATE with the Lord and do not know they have a set of weapons or how to use the weapons God has given us, so we can be MORE THAN CONQUERERS.
So, as you think about church this weekend, meditate on these 2 key words. PREPARATION &CO-OPERATION, if you do it, it will change your weekend.
