GOD’S WORD -THE BIBLE (10)

By John Ollis

An often used symbol for the Word of God is BREAD, it is the staff of life, ever fresh and meant for DAILY CONSUMPTION.

It is not only the natural staff of life, but also the spiritual staff of life, Jesus responding to the devil declares in Matt. 4:4 NKJV But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’

PASSION He answered, “The Scriptures say:
Bread alone will not satisfy,
but true life is found in every word,
which constantly goes forth from God’s mouth.”

MESSAGE Jesus answered by quoting Deuteronomy: “It takes more than bread to stay alive. It takes a steady stream of words from God’s mouth.

In Isaiah 55:10 NKJV we read For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
And do not return there,
But water the earth,
And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower
And BREAD to the eater,
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void

MESSAGE Just as rain and snow descend from the skies
and don’t go back until they’ve watered the earth,
Doing their work of making things grow and blossom,
producing seed for farmers and FOOD for the hungry,
So will the words that come out of my mouth
not come back empty-handed.
They’ll do the work I sent them to do,
they’ll complete the assignment I gave them.

WE thank God for the rain of the Holy Spirit on the seed of God’s` Word, that produces seed for the Farmer (Teacher) and FOOD (BREAD) FOR THE HUNGRY.

Just as there surely isn’t anything like a lovely fresh bread sandwich, so may we lean to appreciate the BREAD OF GOD.

There are also times when let’s face it, times get tough, and we are tempted to give up, thank God we can Find God’s Word as an ANCHOR. In Hebrew 6:18-19 AMP.N.T. we read:

His was so that, by two unchangeable things [His promise and His oath] in which it is impossible for God ever to prove false or deceive us, we who have fled [to Him] for refuge might have mighty indwelling strength and strong encouragement to grasp and hold fast the hope appointed for us and set before [us].
[Now] we have this [hope] as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul [it cannot slip and it cannot break down under whoever steps out upon it—a hope] that reaches farther and enters into [the very certainty of the Presence] within the veil,

N.L.T. So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.

PASSION So it is impossible for God to lie for we know that his promise and his vow will never change!
And now we have run into his heart to hide ourselves in his faithfulness. This is where we find his strength and comfort, for he empowers us to seize what has already been established ahead of time—an unshakeable hope! We have this certain hope like a strong, unbreakable anchor holding our souls to God himself. Our anchor of hope is fastened to the mercy seat which sits in the heavenly realm beyond the sacred threshold.

MESSAGE God can’t break his word. And because his word cannot change, the promise is likewise unchangeable.
We who have run for our very lives to God have every reason to grab the promised hope with both hands and never let go. It’s an unbreakable spiritual lifeline, reaching past all appearances right to the very presence of God.

BREAD and an ANCHOR, are a good combination in this blog, may we eat heartily, and hold on tight to the anchor of God’s Word, and ever declare GOD SAID IT, I BELIEVE THAT SETTLES IT. amen
